Concession Terms and Conditions

  1. The Institution expects that members claiming concessions will do so honestly and diligently.
  2. False or incorrect claims will be viewed as conduct issues and referred for disciplinary action, which may lead ultimately to expulsion.
  3. Members shall be required to submit evidence in support of any claim for a discounted rate.
  4. The Institution reserves the right, in its full discretion, to decide whom it will make further enquiries from and the information it may require.
  5. If you are granted a concession and your circumstances then change you must tell the Institution immediately and arrange to pay the full subscription fee. There is no pro-rata concession if your circumstances change during the year, except where you retire part-way through the year.
  6. Only one personal concession can be applied for every year.
  7. Concessions must be applied for at the time of renewal. The Institution will not provide any refunds should a concession be applied for after payment or commitment to pay.
  8. You may still apply for a concession if you are providing surveying services free of charge. However, if you are a principal in a firm registered by the Institution, your firm may be subject to the Rules of Conduct for Firms.
  9. Concessions cannot be granted retrospectively and can be granted for the year of application only.

Types of Concessions

1. Retired

A concession is available for members who are not working in any capacity for remuneration and who do not expect to return to work in the future for remuneration.

Concession: A 100% concession will be granted on annual subscription after an application made by the member has been approved. A member must apply for the concession on annual basis so far as the member wants to continue to enjoy this type of concession.

2. No longer working for remuneration

Members who are no longer in active work or working for remuneration of any kind may apply for this type of concession. For this purpose, the re-imbursement of expenses and the receipt of dividends from a company are not "remuneration", but payments received as a director of a company is considered as remuneration.

Concession: This concession is a 50% waiver of annual subscription, and it only applies to the current year, you must re-apply each year.

3. Ill-health

A concession of 100% waiver of annual subscription is available for those members who are currently unable to work due to ill-health or incapacity.

Concession: This concession only applies to the current year and yearly application must be made by the member.
